Many of us think courage is what to exhibit during war, disaster, extreme danger or stress. But it is larger than that. And more ordinary than most think. This courage is an everyday virtue.

Going by the story of this talented man; Winston Churchill, one should bear in mind people whose talent was elevated and built by courage. As a student at Harrow at age sixteen, he made a bold response to his classmate about his future and it reads:

“I can see vast changes coming over a now peaceful world, great upheavals, terrible struggles, wars such as one cannot imagine; and I tell you London will be in danger….. I shall occupy the high position; it will fall to me to save the capital.”

So, as the time approached, this vision Churchill had about his role was remarkably on target. Then, after Europe fell to the Nazi (German), Great Britain was able to stand alone against them for two years with Churchill as their leader.

As it always seems, why would anybody believe Churchill had the courage to lead the nation in what appeared to be a terrible situation which everybody believed there was little hope?

This is why I say is because his courage had been tested time and time again and it had equally proven his talent. If you desire to become a more courageous person, then do the following:

1. COURAGE SHOULD BE SOUGHT INSIDE NOT OUTSIDE YOURSELF :=>when we experience fear, we must be willing to move forward and this is an individual decision. First, we must win the battle within ourselves because; courage starts internally before it is displayed outside.

This should begin as a decision we make and grows as we make the choice to follow through. So, the only step that matters if we want to become successful is to decide to be courageous.

2. DO THE RIGHT THING INSTEAD OF THE EXPEDIENT (helpful in a particular situation but not morally accepted) THING:=>
Courage is the common currency of those who chose to do the right thing instead of the expedient (helpful in a particular situation but not morally accepted) thing, and who do what they are supposed to do in a time of conflict, crisis and when one is in confusion.

So, the acquisition of courage can often be sensed as an internal battle because, we human always desire to do what is expedient (helpful in a particular situation but not morally accepted). Forgetting that, what is easy and expedient is always not what is right. (This is that battle).

IN YOUR BATTLE OF TRYING TO DO what you know is right, you must master yourself and be sure you are acting in integrity with your core values. This saying that, inside every individual there are six people will guide you in discovering your core values and they are:

--- Who you are reputed to be
--- Who you are expected to be
--- Who you were
--- Who you wish to be
--- Who you think you are
--- Who you really are

So, I advise us to strive and be true to who we really are. When we do and do the right thing, then our courage will definitely increase.

3. PREPARE FOR GREATER COURAGE BY TAKING SMALL STEPS ON COURAGE :=> we always want to grow quickly and be done with it, especially in this part of the world Nigeria. But the reality is that, genuine growth is slow, and for one to be successful, we should start from small things and do them every day. And I advised you should not lose courage in considering your own imperfections, but start instantly to remedy them by beginning the task afresh every day.

Each time you take a bold little step towards any hard task, you make an investment in your courage. Doing that long enough, will make you begin to live a lifestyle of courage. And this will help you get ready for the biggerrisks because you are now much larger.

Many of us are contrived that hence they receive a tittle or given a position, that would go a long way in making them a leader. But life does not work like that.

So, if you have to tell people that you are one (leader) with such belief, please, you are not. The position does not make the leader; the leader makes the position. However, anytime you continuously display courage, you will likely become a leader because others will look up to you, emulate you and follow you.

The measure of courage you display, determines if your life will expand or shrink. To expand with each courageous act, you should be able to do the following:
--- take risks
--- explore your limit
--- face your shortcomings
--- experience defeat

Those who are capable of doing the above things will go farther thanpeople who timidly follow the safe and predictable path.
So, to avoid living with regrets due to lack of courage which often happens by timidly following the safe and predictable path, do the following:

(a) The frequency of your failure is a sure indication of your inclination to take risks so, how often do you fail? Make it a point to record every failure in a jotter for seven days. Then, evaluate your willingness to take risks at the end of the week.

(b) Remember, it takes courage to seek a truth that may be painful to you so, talk to a trusted friend and ask him or her where you need to change and grow.

Promise this individual that if he or she will confide in you, you will hold your peace and not defend yourself or make excuses for a week.
Then keep your promise and use those seven days to reflect on the assessment of you by that person.

(c) Do not allow pleasure and comfort to be high on your priority list, when such happens or is happening, you may not be taking enough chances to maximize your talent and reach your potentials.

(d) Plan to develop your courage by doing something uncomfortable or scary once or twice a week for a month. Let these actions be small, positive and be taken step by step.

(e)Forgive others for past hurts.
It is not often easy to take the high road. So, let me ask; when others treat you poorly, how do you respond? Do your response resonate kindness or tit for tat?
However, if you can forgive hurts, you will find that your life will be less stressful and many people will be attracted to you.
So, exhibiting courage and living without regrets all starts within you. Strive to build that courage you needed today to excel.

No doubt, with these ideas, you should be well engaged to make change in your life and stick to healthier habitual and moral lifestyle for the long term.

And my final two points should be:
1. Knowledge without action is entirely useless. You are now well equipped with tools to use and change your life, now it is time to do it. I know you have a lot of goals that are important to you, then, use these ideas to make it a reality.

2. Doing my best for our community is my priority so; we are here to support you. I write two articles for a small community each week, Monday and Thursday, and these small communities are people who are to getting better, living healthier, and making the world a better place.

I do my best to help them achieve their goals, and this is my part to play, and I will always like to do the same for you.
So, if you have questions, you can always contact me at

I know, I do not have it all figured out, but my best is channeled towards the tiny action that accumulates to greatness with time, as you follow me along the way.
I am pleased to help you if there is anything I can do for you. I am here to help however I can.
